From the sitar to the Guitar
Presented by world music pioneers Yehudi Menuhin and Ravi Shankar, From
the Sitar to the Guitar tells a story which started nearly a thousand
years ago in Rajasthan, India, and culminates in the Spanish flamenco.
During this historic event, produced by the International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation
and presented at the Cirque Royal in Brussels on 24 and 25 November 1995, we
follow the epic trail of the nomads, the gypsies, hunted down because of their
differences. It is a story of resignation and ecstasy.
From the Sitar to the Guitar features extraordinary and previously
unreleased performances by Ravi Shankar, Blanca del Rey, Langas and Manghaniyars
of Rajasthan, Ludovit Kováč, Trio Loyko and Abdelli.
